Job Description

Prof. Niaz Ahmed Shaikh is Professor of Academic Medicine at Dubai Medical College for Girls and Consultant Internal Medicine at Rashid Hospital, Dubai Health. He has graduated from Sindh Medical College Karachi and had received postgraduate training at United Kingdom. He has fellowships from American College of Physicians and the Royal College of Physicians of London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Ireland. He is also fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health UK.

 Prof. Niaz Shaikh has got an extensive clinical experience working mostly in Acute Care Medicine at Tertiary care teaching Hospitals. While committed to medical education with passion and pleasure, he has been teacher, supervisor, trainer, mentor and examiner of undergraduate and postgraduate students for various training programs and at different universities for nearly three decades. He is an International Examiner of MRCP-PACES since 2015 and an active teaching faculty member for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Rashid Hospital, for Arab Board and Saudi Board of Health Sciences. He takes pride in teaching preaching and practicing General Internal Medicine in this era of subspecialties. He has published more than 50 articles in peer reviewed journals and written many Clinical Practice Guidelines for Hospital Practice.

Dr. Umaira Aziz is a distinguished Diabetes and Endocrinology Consultant with comprehensive training in the UK. She holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from London in both diabetes and endocrinology as well as internal medicine. Dr. Aziz earned her MSc in Diabetes from the University of Warwick, UK, and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in Endocrinology.

With a profound interest in Diabetes in Pregnancy and Maternal Medicine, Dr. Aziz further specialized by obtaining a degree in Maternal Medicine from King's College London. She is also an Obesity Specialist. She has worked in University college London hospital in UK and lead largest covid-19 research in Royal free hospital and contributed to local and national guidelines in diabetes in UK.

 Currently serving as a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Emirates Health Services (EHS) in Ibrahim bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital, R.A.K, UAE. In addition, she leads the Antenatal Diabetes services at both IBHOH and Omran Hospital in RAK EHS.

 Dr. Aziz is an Honorary Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at RAK Medical University and serves as a committee member for the Young Diabetes Forum for Emirates Diabetes and Endocrine Society. She holds the position of Assistant Deputy Director for EHS Diabetes Standardization and is the Communication Director for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Interest Group.

Dr. Maria Awais is a specialist in Internal medicine with extensive experience in various fields such as endocrinology, diabetes, and respiratory illnesses, currently working in emirates specialty hospital DHCC, Dubai. She graduated from one of the most prestigious medical institute in Pakistan, King Edward Medical College in 2005. Since her graduation she has worked in multiple countries including Pakistan, Oman, and UAE. With more than 15 years of experience, Dr Maria brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and expertise. Dr Maria prides herself in being a thoroughly holistic specialist who pays attention to all aspects of patient care and needs.

She has a post graduate speciality certificate in endocrinology & diabetes from UK (SCE-RCP London) and has acquired a postgrad diploma respiratory medicine through the Royal College of London. Most recently she has passed Royal College of Emergency medicine of UK exams (MRCEM) to enhance her ability to deal with emergencies.
